Welcome to Manawatu Overtones

The Manawatu Overtones sing a cappella,  four-part harmony in the barbershop style.  We are a group of women who enjoy singing together, enjoying the fun and friendships that accompany this art form,  and we are affiliated to Sweet Adelines International.  Originally formed in late 2004 under the musical direction of Olwyn Jones, the chorus now sings under the co-direction of Sylvia Fountain and Liz Watts.

We are a thirty-strong, auditioned chorus based in Palmerston North although many of our members travel from around the region including Feilding, Marton and Levin to attend our weekly rehearsals. Most years, we compete at the New Zealand Sweet Adelines Convention with our sister choruses from around New Zealand.  Locally, you will find us performing at many and varied functions around the Manawatu.  If you'd like to find out more about us, learn more about this musical art form or see what’s happening in our world, then welcome to our website!
